The Coffeyville Area Chamber of Commerce has been closely monitoring the ever-evolving COVID-19 crisis. As many of you know, we have recently seen a large increase in cases in Montgomery County which has put a resource drain on our healthcare institutions that are working extremely hard to keep up with the rising number of hospitalizations. After consulting with multiple community leaders, we have made the difficult decision to cancel our annual Spooktacular event scheduled for October 26, 2020.
This was one of the hardest decisions the Chamber and the Board has had to make. I know this will come as a disappointment for many and know we are sad too! This is one of our favorite activities of the year and wish we could give our kiddos this fun experience. However, the health and safety of the community is important to us. In addition, we know families have already had to deal with the workforce challenges when many area schools had to move to virtual learning. We want to ensure we are not putting our children at a higher risk of additional quarantines. I am sure many parents will appreciate the effort to keep the children in this area safe and in school.
Although Spooktacular will not take place, we are looking into hosting more community wide events when conditions allow, to help reboot our local business economy and provide more activities for Coffeyville. Not only that, but Spooktacular will be back in 2021 bigger and better than ever!
