Coffeyville Technical Campus now offers
Commercial Drivers License Course (CDL)
Coffeyville, KS - Coffeyville Community
College is now offering a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) driving course with
a mix of online theory and hands-on behind-the-wheel instruction here in
Coffeyville. The CDL Class A course, which allows students to drive a
tractor-trailer, will be offered every 8 weeks. Students can also receive
additional endorsements on their CDL license for Hazmat and Passenger/School
Bus. The Hazmat endorsement class will be held online every 4 weeks and the
Passenger/School Bus endorsement theory class will be offered online each semester
with range and behind-the-wheel training in Coffeyville.
Obtaining a CDL Class A
license will allow you to operate a combination of vehicles with a gross weight
of more than 26,001 pounds and pull a trailer that weighs at least 10,000
pounds or more. Tractor-trailers operators must have an additional hazmat
endorsement to pull a tanker trailer and bus operators must have
passenger endorsement to operate a passenger bus. With a Class A
CDL, you can drive any Class B or Class C vehicle with the appropriate
endorsements.
David Sanford, CDL
instructor, will teach the CDL Class A courses and the Hazmat endorsement
course at the Coffeyville Technical Campus. Students will complete theory
classes online and have range and behind-the-wheel time, which includes the
pre-trip inspection, drive time and backing maneuvers.
"Getting a CDL license is a great opportunity for anyone
who needs this training to secure employment as a truck or bus driver in the
Southeast Kansas area. CCC is the closest place to get your CDL license outside
of Wichita or Tulsa. I am excited to provide the CDL training in our Montgomery
County," Sanford said.
